Nachrichten-Algorithmen: Die Auswirkung von Automation und künstlicher Intelligenz auf den Journalismus.

Das Knight Center bietet wieder einen seiner hörenswerten, kostenlosen Massive Open Online Courses MOOCs.

Der vierwöchige Kurs wird das Mysterium um Algorithmen und künstliche Intelligenz KI (Englisch: AI für artificial indelligence) entzaubern. Die Teilnehmer an dem Kurs sollen am Ende besser einschätzen können, wie diese Techniken Journalisten helfen können – und wie nicht.

Denn diese Techniken werden die wichtigsten Herausforderungen für Journalisten in den kommenden Jahren sein, wenn auch die Nachrichtenproduktion zunehmend automatisiert wird.

Der Kurs ist ein einführender Überblickskurs für Journalisten. Technisches Hintergrundwissen ist nicht erforderlich.

We start the new year activities by inviting you, , to participate in the Knight Center’s newest free online course. Sign up now for “News Algorithms: The Impact of Automation and AI on Journalism”.

This four-week course will peel back the mystery around algorithms and AI so you gain a greater appreciation for what these technologies can and can’t do for journalism. This will be one of the main challenges for journalists in the next years, as we enter a new phase of the digital revolution, with automation everywhere, including in news production.

If you are not familiarized with the topic and it seems too complicated, don’t be afraid. The course will start with the basics and it will put you ahead of the curve. You’ll come away from the course with the knowledge you need to think more strategically, creatively, and responsibly about the adoption of these technologies in your practice.

“News Algorithms: The Impact of Automation and AI on Journalism” runs from February 11 – March 10, 2019, and is taught by Nicholas Diakopoulos, an Assistant Professor in Communication Studies at Northwestern University, where he is Director of the Computational Journalism Lab.

This is an introductory overview course appropriate for media practitioners and professionals who do not have any technical background. But the course is open to anyone, from anywhere.

The course can be done on your own time; there are no live activities, so you can work on the weekly modules during the days and times that are most convenient for you.
